Our Philanthropy
Our chapter is dedicated to making a difference in our two main philanthropic pursuits:
Domestic Violence Awareness and the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation.
Domestic Violence Awareness and the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation.
Domestic Violence Awareness
Nationwide
Alpha Chi Omega has been dedicated to fighting against, and bringing awareness to, the issue of domestic violence since 1992, when it became our national philanthropy. Our work to address domestic violence comes in numerous forms including, but not limited to, awareness, prevention, education, and assistance to survivors and their children. Our Chapter
Our chapter has the honor of partnering with The Julian Center, a nonprofit organization that provides food and shelter for women and children who are survivors of domestic violence located in downtown Indianapolis. As Alpha Chis, we strive to assist The Julian Center through various volunteer opportunities, such as hosting birthday parties each month, teaching classes to the residents, and sorting clothes at Thrifty Threads - a local thrift store where all proceeds go towards The Julian Center. |

Our Events
S'mores In 2011, we started our Fall philanthropy event, S'mores, which benefits our national philanthropy, the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation. S'mores takes place at the beginning of September, and all members of the Butler community and surrounding community are welcome to join us as we roast s'mores on our front lawn! We love this event because it is a really great way to kick off the school year and wrap up summer.

FlingEach fall, Alpha Chi hosts a "Fling Week". During the week, we host Sundaes for DVA where individuals can buy ice cream, where the proceeds directly benefit The Julian Center, and an ultimate frisbee competition. We have both the Greek and non-Greek community compete in order to raise money for The Julian Center and support domestic violence awareness. This is a really great way to bring the community together and get to know everyone on campus even better.

TbtnIn 2018, we started a new spring philanthropy event "Take Back The Night," to benefit both the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation and The Julian Center. With the support of the Office of Health of Education, all members of the Butler community and surrounding community are welcomed to join us in a campus walk to raise awareness for sexual assault and domestic violence.
